Vice President Jane Opoku-Agyemang Speaks on Her Health and Treatment Abroad
Vice President of Ghana, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, has extended her heartfelt gratitude to Ghanaians for their well-wishes following the announcement of her sudden illness and the need for further medical treatment abroad.
In a post on her official Facebook page on Monday, March 31, 2025 she expressed deep appreciation for the kind words and prayers sent her way. Her message of gratitude coincided with the celebration of Eid Mubarak where she also extended warm wishes to the Muslim community after their successful month of fasting.
Professor Opoku-Agyemang acknowledged the overwhelming support from the public and took a moment to recognize the contributions of Muslims to national development.

An official statement from the Office of the President confirmed that the Vice President was hospitalized at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) on Saturday, March 29, 2025, after falling ill on the evening of Friday, March 28, 2025.
The statement, signed by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Spokesperson to the President and Minister of State in charge of Government Communications, clarified that she was taken to UGMC for immediate medical attention.
The Vice President, Her Excellency Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, received treatment at the University of Ghana Medical Centre on Saturday due to a sudden illness that occurred after work on Friday, March 28, 2025, the statement read.
Following medical assessments, healthcare professionals at UGMC recommended that the Vice President seek further treatment outside the country.
Based on expert medical opinion, she will seek further care abroad,” the statement added.
The exact nature of her illness has not been disclosed, but the government has assured the public that she is receiving the necessary medical care.
Since the announcement, many Ghanaians, including political figures, religious leaders, and citizens, have expressed their support for the Vice President, wishing her a speedy recovery.
