Togbe Afede XIV, the Agbogbomefia of the Asogli State, has expressed his excitement and optimism following the nomination of James Gunu as the Volta Regional Minister Designate. The traditional leader made these remarks during a durbar held at the Jubilee Park in Ho as part of President Mahama’s Thank You Tour in the Volta Region. The visit followed President Mahama’s victory in the 2024 presidential elections.
Togbe Afede XIV lauded President Mahama for selecting James Gunu, whom he described as a dedicated and capable leader. “I just want to thank you for giving us someone who promises to be a very good Regional Minister, who even before you gave this mandate, has demonstrated a willingness to work with the people and for the interest of the people,” Togbe Afede said.
Togbe Afede also drew a contrast between the newly appointed James Gunu and the immediate past Regional Minister, Dr. Archibald Letsa, who served under the Akufo-Addo administration. He expressed confidence that James Gunu would deliver better results and work diligently to bring prosperity to the region.
“We know he will not be like the one we just had,” Togbe Afede remarked, underscoring his high expectations for the new Regional Minister.
The Volta Region, known as the stronghold of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), played a pivotal role in securing President Mahama’s victory in the 2024 elections.
