The Regal Film Festival & Awards (REFFA) Officially Launched in Accra
The Regal Film Festival & Awards (REFFA) has officially been launched in Accra, marking a significant moment in Ghana’s creative and film industry. The much-anticipated event is set to redefine how talents across the movie-making process are celebrated.
Speaking at the launch the founder of REFFA Selassie Ibrahim revealed that the idea for the festival and awards had been in the pipeline for the past nine years. She explained that although she conceived the vision almost a decade ago she patiently waited for the right time to bring it to life.
REFFA is not just another regular awards scheme, she noted. It comes with a full festival experience including three days of workshops, masterclasses and interactive sessions with investors in the creative space.
One of the key highlights of REFFA, according to Selassie Ibrahim is its dedication to recognizing and honoring everyone who contributes to the film industry not just the actors we see on screen. She emphasized the importance of acknowledging scriptwriters, lighting technicians, sound engineers, editors and other behind-the-scenes professionals who work tirelessly to bring a film project to completion.
In this industry people often celebrate only the faces on the screen forgetting the many professionals behind the scenes. REFFA is here to change that, she stated.
She further assured stakeholders and the public that the awards process will be transparent and fair, with no external interference or manipulation.
REFFA promises to be a groundbreaking event that not only celebrates talent but also creates an environment for learning, networking and industry growth. It is a refreshing and inclusive initiative that is set to uplift the Ghanaian film industry and beyond.
