The Reason Behind Koo Ofori’s Arrest Finally Revealed

Veteran Ghanaian actor Koo Ofori known in private life as Seth Kwabena Kyere Karikari is currently facing legal trouble over an alleged land fraud case involving a U.S.-based Ghanaian medical doctor, Dr. E. Oduro.

According to credible information gathered by mrwoode.com, the issue dates back to 2021 when Dr. Oduro a close friend of Koo Ofori decided to acquire land in Ghana to build a residential property. Relying on their long-standing friendship, she entrusted Koo Ofori with the task of facilitating the purchase.

A few months later, Koo Ofori informed the doctor that he had found a one-plot parcel of land at Spintex, a prime location in Accra, priced at $50,000 USD. Believing this to be the full cost for one plot, Dr. Oduro transferred the stated amount to a dollar account reportedly provided by Koo Ofori.

However, complications arose when Dr. Oduro later visited Ghana and discovered that the land was actually half a plot not the full plot she had paid for. Upon confronting the landowner, she was informed that the land had been sold for GHS 170,000, the actual price for half a plot and not the $50,000 she had been charged.

Shocked and feeling defrauded, Dr. Oduro reached out to Koo Ofori, who reportedly admitted to the discrepancy and promised to refund the balance. However since 2021, he is said to have only refunded $5,000, leaving a substantial amount unpaid.

Frustrated by the lack of progress the doctor filed a complaint with the Accra Regional Criminal Investigations Department (CID) in March 2025. After several months without repayment, the case was forwarded to the Dansoman Circuit Court.

Despite two separate court summons, Koo Ofori failed to appear, prompting the court to issue a bench warrant for his arrest. He was subsequently apprehended and appeared before the court on Thursday, 9th May 2025. The case has now been adjourned to Monday, 12th May 2025.

This unfolding story has drawn public attention, with many expressing disappointment over the incident, especially given Koo Ofori’s status as a respected figure in Ghana’s entertainment industry. Legal experts note that if found guilty the actor could face serious consequences, including restitution and possible custodial sentencing.

As the case continues, it serves as a cautionary tale about trust and due diligence in private transactions, even among close friends.
