Speaker Clears NIB to Probe Two MPs—Legal Rights Assured

The Speaker of Ghana’s Parliament has granted approval for the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) to investigate two Members of Parliament (MPs), Mustapha Yussif and Kwame Asare Obeng (A Plus).

In an official letter signed by the Clerk to Parliament Ebenezer Ahumah Djietror and addressed to the Director General of the NIB the Speaker acknowledged the request while emphasizing the need to follow constitutional and security protocols.

The letter confirmed that Parliament, in principle agrees to the NIB’s request allowing the two MPs to participate in the investigation process.

The MPs have been directed to meet with NIB officials on Monday, April 7, 2025, at 10:00 AM. The interaction will take place at the Sir Emmanuel Charles Quist Conference Room in Parliament.

As part of the process, the Speaker of Parliament has advised that both MPs should have their legal representatives present during the meeting.

The Hon. Members will be requested to have their lawyers present at the interaction.”

This directive ensures that the legal rights of the MPs are protected throughout the investigation.
