Shatta Wale Endorses King Promise for 2025 Artist of the Year at Telecel Ghana Music Awards
Ghanaian dancehall icon Shatta Wale has thrown his full support behind singer King Promise to win the prestigious Artist of the Year award at the 2025 Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) sparking excitement among fans and the music industry.
In a video circulating on social media first spotted by GhanaCelebrities.Com Shatta Wale is seen cruising in a luxurious Rolls Royce Cullinan with King Promise seated beside him. As the camera rolls, Wale proudly declares: That’s my Artist of the Year, signaling his endorsement of the Favourite Story hitmaker ahead of the biggest night in Ghanaian music.
King Promise, who narrowly missed out on the top award last year, has mounted a strategic and well-organized campaign in a bid to secure the 2025 title. Recently, he announced media personality Tilly Akua Nipaa as his official spokesperson for the campaign a move that has added fuel to his momentum.
Tilly Akua Nipaa has since taken the campaign to multiple media platforms, fiercely defending King Promise’s claim to the crown. Speaking in a recent interview, she emphasized that data clearly favors the singer.
When you look at the streaming numbers King Promise is far ahead of his competitors not just in Ghana but internationally, she argued.
According to Nipaa King Promise currently boasts 100 million streams on Spotify, compared to 8 million for King Paluta and 6 million for Stonebwoy who won the award last year. In terms of monthly listeners, King Promise reportedly commands 2.1 million, while Stonebwoy has about 400,000, and King Paluta trails with 164,000.
With numbers clearly on his side and high-profile endorsements like that of Shatta Wale, King Promise is currently seen as the frontrunner for this year’s Artist of the Year award. However, the competition remains intense with Stonebwoy, King Paluta, and other top acts also in contention.
The 2025 TGMA Awards are scheduled to take place on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Centre. As the date approaches, fans, stakeholders, and industry insiders eagerly await who will ultimately take home the coveted title.
One thing is certain: this year’s race is as competitive as ever and King Promise is pulling out all the stops to secure his place at the top of Ghanaian music.
