Prophet Kumchacha Commended for Transforming Sanitation in Mallam
Residents of Mallam in the Mallam Gbawe constituency are praising popular Ghanaian clergyman, Prophet Nicholas Osei widely known as Prophet Kumchacha for his significant contribution to improving sanitation in their community.
The founder and leader of Heaven’s Gate Ministries has taken bold steps to address a longstanding sanitation issue that posed a serious health risk to both residents and schoolchildren in the area. According to locals, a section of land behind the Heaven’s Gate Ministries church had become an unauthorized dumping ground and a site for open defecation. The unsanitary conditions were particularly concerning as the area lies directly opposite Princess International School.
Despite repeated efforts by the assembly member Derrick Kusi Nyametiasi, and the District Sanitation Department the situation had shown little improvement until Prophet Kumchacha stepped in.
Demonstrating proactive leadership Prophet Kumchacha hired a team of workers to clear the overgrown bushes, clean up the filth and restore order to the environment. He also installed streetlights to brighten the area at night and employed security personnel to monitor the location and discourage further illegal dumping or open defecation.
Speaking in an interview with mrwoode.com, Prophet Kumchacha emphasized the need for residents to stop indiscriminate waste disposal and open defecation highlighting their connection to serious health concerns such as cholera, malaria, typhoid and even environmental issues like flooding.
He stressed that maintaining a clean and safe environment is a shared responsibility and urged all community members to contribute positively.
Residents have expressed immense relief and appreciation for the initiative, stating that the clean-up effort has not only improved sanitation but also enhanced safety and dignity in the community.
Prophet Kumchacha’s intervention serves as a model for community-led development and a reminder of the positive impact religious and civic leaders can have when they take action for the public good.
