Paulina Oduro Clarifies Comments on Kofi Kinaata and TGMA

Renowned highlife legend Paulina Oduro has addressed recent misinterpretations of her remarks regarding Kofi Kinaata and the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA).

In a recent interview on ShowBiz Today on Empire 102.7 FM she dismissed claims that she said Kofi Kinaata is bigger than the TGMA. Instead she emphasized that her words were taken out of context by some bloggers urging them to report accurately.

Bloggers Should Get Their Facts Right – Paulina Oduro

Clarifying the situation Paulina Oduro stated:

Oh Chaley! I think these bloggers should get their facts right. What I actually said was that it’s not a big deal. Kofi is loved all over Ghana; he’s a big artiste and should not be worried about whether he’s nominated or not. TGMA has been around for a long time; Kofi can never be bigger than that show. But as an artiste, he is big!

Her comments came after Kofi Kinaata was noticeably absent from the Artiste of the Year category at the 26th TGMA despite receiving multiple nominations for his successful Kofi oo Kofi EP.

The omission of Kofi Kinaata from the top category sparked frustration among his fans, many of whom felt he deserved a nomination. Paulina Oduro, in an attempt to encourage the artist was misquoted by some blogs, leading to online backlash.

Setting the Record Straight

With this clarification Paulina Oduro hopes to put the issue to rest and shift the focus back to celebrating Kofi Kinaata’s achievements. She reaffirmed that while Kinaata is a major artist the TGMA remains a significant institution in Ghana’s music industry.

As the controversy settles the discussion highlights the importance of accurate reporting and how misquotations can lead to unnecessary misunderstandings in the entertainment industry.
