Spare Parts Prices Drop in Ghana: Association Urged Customers To Avoid unregistered dealers

Mr. Benjamin Takyi Addo the Director of Communications for the Abossey Okai Spare Parts Dealers Association has disclosed that prices of vehicle spare parts in Ghana have dropped compared to previous years. This he explained is due to the recent stability of the US dollar which plays a significant role in the pricing of imported goods, including spare parts.

In an exclusive interview with mrwoode.com, Mr. Takyi Addo stated that the association has observed a positive shift in pricing trends thanks to the improved exchange rate. However, he expressed concern that not all dealers are reflecting this in their pricing.

Some of these people do not think about Ghana or the consumers. They are still selling at high prices even though the dollar is stable. Unfortunately some are doing politics with it especially those aligned with the opposition party the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Takyi Addo said.

He criticized some individuals in the market for placing personal and political interests above the welfare of Ghanaian consumers. According to him while the market has experienced favorable conditions that should lead to price reductions certain dealers have deliberately chosen to maintain high prices.

Mr. Takyi Addo encouraged customers who visit the Abossey Okai Spare Parts Market to be more vigilant and make informed decisions. He urged buyers to consult the association’s office which is located within the market for guidance on where to purchase genuine and reasonably priced spare parts.

The Abossey Okai Spare Parts Market has over 45,000 people operating in and around it. This makes it difficult for the association to completely clamp down on unregistered or illegal dealers. That’s why we urge consumers to walk into our office so we can help them get value for their money,” he explained.

The Abossey Okai Spare Parts Dealers Association continues to champion transparency and fairness in one of West Africa’s largest automotive parts markets. The association is also actively working to protect consumers from exploitation and ensure that the benefits of economic stability are passed down to ordinary Ghanaians.

Mr. Takyi Addo’s comments underscore the association’s ongoing efforts to regulate prices, eliminate fraudulent practices and ensure that consumers enjoy fair deals in the market.

For consumers seeking genuine spare parts at fair prices the association advises visiting only registered and trustworthy dealers—many of whom can be easily identified with the help of the association’s office.
