NSA Denies Hearts of Oak’s Return to Accra Sports Stadium for Nations FC Clash

The National Sports Authority (NSA) has dismissed reports suggesting that Accra Hearts of Oak will return to the Accra Sports Stadium for their upcoming Ghana Premier League Matchday 21 fixture against Nations FC on Wednesday.

The Phobians who have been using the Legon Sports Stadium as their temporary home venue were initially listed by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to host Nations FC at the Accra Sports Stadium. However the NSA has made it clear that no such arrangement has been confirmed.

Hearts of Oak was forced to relocate to the University of Ghana Stadium due to ongoing renovation work at the Accra Sports Stadium. The club has been playing its home matches there since the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season resumed.

However following a recent inspection by the Club Licensing Board, the University of Ghana Stadium was deemed unsuitable for Ghana Premier League matches due to:
• An uneven pitch which poses risks to player safety
• Security concerns making it difficult to ensure adequate crowd control

As a result, Hearts of Oak is now facing uncertainty regarding the venue for their crucial fixture against Nations FC.

With the NSA ruling out the Accra Sports Stadium as a confirmed venue and the Club Licensing Board rejecting the Legon Sports Stadium it is unclear where Hearts of Oak will host Nations FC on Wednesday.

The GFA and Hearts of Oak’s management are expected to make an official announcement soon regarding an alternative venue. If no solution is found quickly the fixture could face postponement or force Hearts of Oak to play at a neutral ground.

Hearts of Oak will have to urgently find a new venue before matchday to avoid disruption to their Premier League campaign. Fans are eagerly awaiting official confirmation on where the game will take place.
