NDC’s Evans Waja Demands Sacking of Gold Board CEO Over Alleged Lavish Gift to Agradaa
Evans Waja the Director of Communication for the Okada Riders Association of Ghana and Communications Officer for the Special Ward in the Odododiodoo Constituency on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has called for the dismissal of the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board Sammy Gyamfi.
Mr. Waja made this call following public reports and concerns that the Gold Board CEO allegedly gave a significant amount of money to Evangelist Patricia Asiedua, popularly known as Agradaa instead of supporting the newly launched Mahama Care initiative.
According to Evans Waja, Mahama Care is a critical intervention by H.E. John Dramani Mahama to provide medical support for Ghanaians battling chronic diseases. He stated that the president together with his vice, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has already donated three months of their salaries each into the program. Several other ministers of state have also contributed to support the cause.
It is unfortunate and disappointing that instead of contributing to such a life-saving initiative, the acting CEO of the Ghana Gold Board is allegedly giving out money to support a lavish lifestyle, Waja said in a media interaction.
While he clarified that he holds no personal grudges against Sammy Gyamfi or Agradaa and even considers Sammy Gyamfi a close friend he insisted that public officeholders must respect the code of ethics established by President Mahama for appointees.
The President has laid down clear standards for integrity, sacrifice and public service. What Sammy Gyamfi did clearly contravenes these principles and to serve as a deterrent he must be removed from office, he emphasized.
Waja further urged Sammy Gyamfi to donate the same amount of money he allegedly gave to Agradaa to the Mahama Care program, to align with the values of the Mahama-led leadership.
This development has sparked debate within political circles, with many observers closely watching how the leadership of the NDC will respond.
The Mahama Care program continues to receive public commendation for its potential to provide relief to vulnerable Ghanaians facing chronic health conditions, and party supporters have been encouraged to prioritize its success.
