Medikal Cautions Against Bad Associations: Some Friends Will Land You in Jail
Award-winning Ghanaian rapper and Omo Ada hitmaker, Medikal has shared some sobering advice on the dangers of associating with the wrong people. In a candid video that has since gone viral the former AMG signee warned the youth and fellow artists to be mindful of the company they keep, emphasizing how easily one’s life can be derailed by the actions of bad friends.
The message from Medikal comes in the wake of a recent incident involving Ghanaian musician Showboy who is currently entangled in legal troubles along with one of his associates. According to Medikal the associate who was arrested alongside Showboy is actually innocent but is now suffering the consequences of his affiliation.
Speaking passionately, Medikal said there are some friends that if you follow them you will go to the police station every day. People will be calling you; policemen will be calling you, and some inspectors will be calling you too.”
He continued, if you make bad friends going to the police station and even getting jailed becomes a normal thing. Don’t follow friends who live recklessly and think being a ‘bad boy’ means being violent or loud.
Medikal further explained that true ‘bad boys or mafia men don’t seek validation on social media or in public spaces.
A real bad man or mafia man is not somebody who punches or makes noise. A bad man is always cool and silent, hiding on one side. He has nothing to prove, he added.
While Medikal did not mention names his comments have sparked conversations online, with many netizens drawing links to his former close ally, Shatta Wale. Some social media users speculated that Medikal may be subtly distancing himself from the dancehall star, citing their past brushes with the law, including a high-profile arrest involving both artists in 2021.
Comments under Medikal’s post pointed out that his own past experiences make him the right person to give such advice.
Experience is the best teacher, one user wrote. Had it not been for his association with certain people, he wouldn’t have gone to jail.
Despite the social media speculation Medikal’s message resonates as a broader life lesson, especially for the youth navigating fame, peer pressure, and the complexities of friendships in the entertainment industry.
As fans continue to decode the deeper meaning of his words, one thing remains clear: Medikal’s message is a timely reminder that the people you surround yourself with can either build you up or bring you down.
