Maurice Ampaw: Mahama’s Victory Taught Me That Everything Is Possible
Private legal practitioner, Lawyer Maurice Ampaw, has admitted that former President John Dramani Mahama’s victory in the 2024 presidential election has been a major life lesson for him.
Speaking on GTV Ghana, Lawyer Ampaw revealed that he was convinced before the election that Ghanaians would not allow a former president to return to power. However, Mahama’s landslide victory came as a shock to him, challenging his previous beliefs about the political landscape in Ghana.
“Before the election, I was certain that there was no way the former president could be made president again, considering his track record. However, I was shocked that at the end of the election, he won with a wide margin, which I am yet to come to terms with,” he stated.
Reflecting on the outcome, he acknowledged that Mahama’s triumph had reshaped his perspective, teaching him that in politics—and in life—anything is possible.
“It has taught me that at the end of the day, Mahama proved to me that everything is possible,” he added.
Before the elections, Maurice Ampaw had publicly declared that he would leave Ghana for Togo if Mahama won. However, he has since abandoned that decision, explaining that Ghana remains a better place for him compared to Togo.
Mahama’s victory has been a topic of widespread discussion, with political analysts examining the factors that led to his comeback. As the country moves forward, Lawyer Ampaw’s reaction serves as an example of how political surprises can lead to new perspectives.
