“It Took 7 Years to Be Seen” – Skit Maker Kiekie Opens Up About Her Journey to Fame
Popular Nigerian skit maker and actress, Kiekie, has opened up about her long and determined journey to stardom, describing herself as a “late bloomer” in the entertainment industry. During an engaging interview on the TTM Show hosted by Tobi Makinde, Kiekie shared how her path to success was marked by years of struggle, passion, and perseverance.
According to her, she began creating content as early as 2013, but it wasn’t until 2020—seven years later—that she finally broke into the limelight. Despite the long wait, Kiekie never gave up on her dreams. “My story is a bit different, and I call myself a late bloomer because it literally took seven years for me to be seen, she said.
Before fame came knocking, Kiekie had to support her content creation journey through other income sources. One of her key roles at the time was fashion styling. She revealed that she worked behind the scenes as a stylist for celebrities, including award-winning singer Simi. “I kept pushing, doing what I loved, and funding it through other jobs. A lot of people who knew me before the fame know I was also a stylist—I used to style Simi,” she recalled.
Her turning point came in 2018 when she launched the Fashion Shock Show. The series quickly went viral and brought her significant attention, leading to influencer gigs and brand partnerships. That breakthrough moment marked the beginning of her rise in the digital entertainment space.
Kiekie credits her success to consistency and resilience. She emphasized that her journey is a testament to the importance of staying true to one’s passion despite the challenges. “The moment I hit the spotlight, it just continued from there,” she said.
Today, Kiekie is widely celebrated for her energetic skits, vibrant personality, and unique comedic flair. Her story continues to inspire many young creatives, proving that success doesn’t always happen overnight—but with hard work, self-belief, and persistence, it is possible.
