Ghanaian Officials Carl Romeo Ansah and Millicent Ankude Selected for 2025 ITTF Young Umpires’ Project
Ghana is making its mark on the international table tennis stage. Two of the nation’s most promising officials, Carl Romeo Ansah and Millicent Ankude, have been chosen for the prestigious 2025 ITTF Young Umpires’ Project (YUP).
This exclusive program, which culminates at the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games, is designed to develop the next generation of top-tier umpires from around the world. Ansah and Ankude were among 20 young officials from across Africa selected for their skill, dedication, and potential to shape the sport’s future on the continent.
Their inclusion highlights Ghana’s growing influence in international table tennis and its commitment to nurturing talent both on and off the court. Ansah and Ankude will now undergo intensive training, mentorship, and gain practical experience in the lead-up to the Dakar games.
This is a fantastic opportunity for them to not only become future international officials but also serve as role models for other young Ghanaians interested in sports officiating.
The selected candidates represent a diverse group of African nations, including Egypt, Nigeria, South Africa, and more, showing the ITTF’s dedication to empowering youth across the continent. This project is a key part of the federation’s mission to professionalize officiating and ensure fair play at the highest levels of competition.
For the Ghana Table Tennis Association (GTTA), this is a significant milestone that reflects years of hard work. The international experience Ansah and Ankude gain will be invaluable, and they are expected to bring their skills back home to raise the standard of local and regional officiating.
As Dakar 2026 approaches, the nation will be cheering for its young umpires, confident they will represent Ghana with integrity, discipline, and excellence.
