Galamsey Pit Collapses, Trapping Illegal Miners At Diaso:

A tragic incident has struck the community of Diaso in the Central Region where a galamsey (illegal mining) pit collapsed on Saturday afternoon, May 24, 2025, trapping several miners underground. The incident has sparked an intense search and rescue operation led by local residents and community authorities.

According to eyewitnesses the miners were working inside the pit when it suddenly caved in burying them beneath tons of earth and debris. The identities and exact number of those trapped remain unknown at this time.
