Gado and Ofori Advance to Quarter-Finals at 2025 ITTF African Youth Championship

Ghana’s talented table tennis pair, Nuhu Ibrahim Gado and Richard Ofori, have stormed into the quarter-finals of the Under-19 Boys’ Doubles event at the ongoing 2025 ITTF (International Table Tennis Federation) African Youth Championship, thrilling fans with their teamwork, skill, and determination at the Sir Molade Okoya Thomas Indoor Sports Hall.

For Gado, this achievement carries a touch of nostalgia. The gifted player famously won the Mini-Cadet Boys’ Singles gold medal at the 2019 Ghana Junior and Cadet Open hosted in Accra, Ghana, cementing his status as one of the nation’s brightest young stars. Six years later, he is back on the continental stage, this time forging a formidable partnership with the ever-improving Richard Ofori.

Their campaign began in the Round of 32, where they overcame the Algerian duo of Khenniche Sofiance and Touaibia Khaled 3–1 (7–11, 11–4, 11–9, 11–6). They carried that momentum into the Round of 16, producing a commanding performance to defeat Zimbabwe’s Makoni Shallom and Nourumba Tatenda 3–0 (11–8, 11–4, 11–5).

The duo have impressed in every round, unleashing a fast-paced attacking game built on sharp forehands, tactical serves, and decisive finishing, keeping their opponents on the back foot.

With the quarter-finals now in sight, Gado and Ofori are aiming to push even further for a podium finish, a feat that would not only add to Gado’s storied history but also highlight the depth of emerging talent in Ghana’s table tennis ranks.
