Final Funeral Rites Held for Late NPP Central Regional Chairman Robert Kutin Junior

The final funeral rites of Robert Kutin Junior the late Central Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) were solemnly held on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at Assin Jakai in the Central Region of Ghana.

The well-attended ceremony brought together several top-ranking political figures party faithful and sympathizers who gathered to pay their last respects to a man many described as a pillar of the party in the region.

Among the dignitaries present were:
• Former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo
• Former Chief of Staff Akosua Frema Osei Opare
• Former Vice President and 2024 NPP Presidential Candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia
• Former Manhyia South MP and 2024 NPP Running Mate, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh

Also in attendance were:
• NPP General Secretary, Justin Frimpong Kodua
• NPP National Organiser, Henry Nana Boakye (Nana B)
• Several regional executives, party officials, and grassroots members who travelled from far and near to honour the memory of the late chairman.

Robert Kutin Junior passed away on December 22, 2024, after battling an undisclosed illness for several months. Until his death, he was a key figure in the NPP’s Central Regional operations and also served as the Board Chairman of the Ghana Maritime Authority (GMA).

In 2022, he successfully retained his position as Central Regional Chairman after defeating Joseph Kobina Essibu during the party’s regional elections. His re-election reflected his popularity and strong influence within the party.

Known for his dedication, discipline and political strategy, Kutin Junior played a significant role in strengthening the NPP’s presence in the Central Region. Many within the party credit him with building bridges between the grassroots and national leadership.

Speakers at the funeral praised the late chairman for his loyalty, hard work, and commitment to the party. They noted that his absence will be deeply felt ahead of the next general election, especially as the party prepares to consolidate its base in the Central Region.

A representative of the bereaved family expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support shown by the NPP leadership and the general public.

The funeral of Robert Kutin Junior was not only a moment of grief but also a time to celebrate the life of a distinguished political leader who gave his all in service of party and country. As the NPP mourns his passing, the legacy he leaves behind is expected to inspire future generations of political leaders within the region and beyond.
