Denkyira Gyaman D/A JHS to Celebrate 20th Anniversary with Community-Centered Activities

 

The Denkyira Gyaman D/A Junior High School located in the Upper Denkyira West District of Ghana’s Central Region is preparing to mark two decades of educational service to the community. The 20th Anniversary and Speech and Prize-Giving Day celebration is scheduled to run from Monday, 19th May to Tuesday, 27th May 2025, under the theme Honouring Our Legacy, Empowering Young Minds, and Embracing Digital Learning.

This milestone event is expected to bring together students, alumni, educators, traditional leaders and key stakeholders in education and community development. The carefully planned week long program will highlight the school’s progress over the years, encourage community participation in education and create awareness around the need for digital transformation in rural schools.

The celebration begins on Monday, 19th May, with a launching ceremony accompanied by a clean-up exercise, community float, painting and beautification of the school compound. These activities aim to foster unity and a sense of shared responsibility among students, teachers, and residents.

On Tuesday, 20th May, the school will host a School Commitment Forum to engage parents, education officials, and community members on the future of the school. Wednesday, 21st May, will be devoted to a special session with former students who will return to share career guidance and motivational insights with current pupils.

Health and well-being will take center stage on Thursday, 22nd May, during a health screening exercise, promoting the importance of regular health checks for academic success. The school grounds will then be filled with excitement on Friday, 23rd May, when students participate in fun games and a football gala, aimed at encouraging physical activity and team spirit.

After the weekend break, the activities will continue on Monday, 26th May, with another float, community sensitization, and awareness creation campaign followed by preparations for the grand finale.

The celebration will climax on Tuesday, 27th May, with a Speech and Prize-Giving Day to acknowledge outstanding achievements of students, teachers, and stakeholders. The event will also include a fundraising initiative in support of constructing a computer laboratory, underscoring the school’s vision of embracing digital learning and preparing students for the future.

Dignitaries invited to grace the occasion include Nana Boa Agyarko III, Paramount Chief of Denkyira Gyaman; Mr. Daniel Agya Mensah, General Manager of Perseus Mining Limited  Ayanfuri; Hon. Rudolf Amoako Gyampah, Member of Parliament for Upper Denkyira West; Hon. Isaac Naiah, District Chief Executive; Hon. John Mensa, Assembly Member for the Nkotumso-Nkasawora, Gyaman, and Fobinso Electoral Area and Mr. Daniel Mensah Chief Executive Officer of Abrentser Gold Buying.

The celebration is a reflection of how far the school has come and a call to action for all stakeholders to support its future. As rural schools across Ghana face challenges of infrastructure and access to technology, Denkyira Gyaman D/A JHS is taking a bold step toward shaping a digitally inclusive future for its students.
