Denkyira Gyaman D/A JHS Celebrates 20th Anniversary, Launches ICT Lab Project
Denkyira Gyaman D/A Junior High School in the Upper Denkyira West District of the Central Region has celebrated its 20th anniversary with a clear mission to raise funds for the construction of a modern ICT laboratory to enhance digital education.
The event held on 27th May 2025 brought together students, teachers, alumni, community members and stakeholders, all united by a shared vision to improve the school’s learning infrastructure.
In an exclusive interview with mrwoode.com, the headteacher of the school Madam Grace Acquah revealed that the school currently owns 15 computers. However, due to the lack of an ICT laboratory the computers are kept in the headteacher’s office which has been converted into a temporary computer lab. This means the headteacher has no dedicated office space.

This is a digital world. Every child needs ICT knowledge to compete fairly in today’s academic environment, Madam Acquah explained. She emphasized that students in rural areas like Denkyira Gyaman are expected to write the same ICT examinations as their peers in urban schools making access to proper facilities a necessity.
According to the headteacher it was the old students who proposed the idea to construct a modern ICT laboratory and library. Their goal is to bridge the digital divide and provide current students with the tools they need to thrive.
To bring this vision to life the school is calling on individuals, NGOs, companies, philanthropists and other well meaning stakeholders to support the project.
The anniversary saw several pledges of support from key figures in the district. The Member of Parliament for Upper Denkyira West, Hon. Rudolf Gyampah, donated 50 bags of cement and other essential building materials. He also made a cash donation and pledged to support the project until its completion.

The school leadership remains hopeful that with continued support Denkyira Gyaman D/A JHS will soon have a fully equipped ICT laboratory, giving students the chance to learn, compete, and succeed in a technology-driven world.
