Dafeamekpor and Fordjour Clash on Live TV Over Suspicious Flights Allegations

A heated confrontation erupted between Rockson-Nelson Etse Kwami Dafeamekpor the Member of Parliament (MP) for South Dayi and John Ntim Fordjour the MP for Assin South, during a live discussion on Metro TV’s “Good Morning Ghana on Friday, April 4, 2025. The dispute centered on allegations regarding two suspicious flights that recently landed in Ghana.

The disagreement was sparked by allegations made by John Ntim Fordjour concerning two aircraft – AirMed flight N823AM and Cavok Air’s Antonov An-12B – which reportedly arrived from Gran Canaria, Spain, and remained in Ghana for five days. The Assin South MP suggested that these flights were linked to suspicious activities, including the transportation of drugs and undisclosed sums of cash.

However, Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor dismissed the claims as unfounded and politically motivated, arguing that such allegations only served to scandalize the government without concrete evidence.

During the discussion, Mr. Dafeamekpor urged his fellow MP to cooperate with security agencies investigating the matter, emphasizing that any credible evidence should be handed over for further examination. He further stated:

The evidence that you have, for which you organised a press conference, should be given to the investigative bodies for further investigation. If you have no basis for making these spurious allegations against the government, the ethics of the profession as MPs is that you apologise, as is known in the church.

Tensions escalated when Mr. Dafeamekpor attempted to quote a Bible verse to support his argument. However, Mr. Fordjour strongly objected, considering the remark derogatory. The situation quickly turned into a heated exchange, forcing the show’s host to intervene and restore calm.

The controversy surrounding the flights has raised public concerns, with many calling on security agencies to expedite their investigations into the matter. Meanwhile, political analysts believe the exchange reflects growing tensions between the ruling party and the opposition ahead of the upcoming December 2025 elections.

While some Ghanaians view Fordjour’s claims as a necessary step to ensure transparency, others argue that Dafeamekpor’s demand for evidence is justified, stressing that unverified allegations could damage the country’s reputation.

As the debate over the alleged suspicious flights continues, Ghanaians await an official statement from the government and security agencies on their findings. Meanwhile, this heated clash between the two MPs has reignited discussions on political accountability and responsible discourse in the media space.
