Chairman Henry Okyere Leads Disinfection of Abosey Okai Spare Parts Market

In a significant move to promote public health and environmental cleanliness the Abosey Okai Spare Parts Market one of the largest spare parts hubs in West Africa has undergone a major disinfection exercise. The initiative was led by Mr. Henry Okyere Junior popularly known as Benz City who serves as both the Chairman of the Abosey Okai Spare Parts Dealers Association and the President of the Ghana Auto Parts Dealers Association.
The disinfection exercise which took place today was carried out in collaboration with LCB Worldwide Crisis Solutions as part of a broader corporate social responsibility campaign. The effort also aligns with the national Keep Ghana Clean initiative aimed at improving sanitation standards across the country.
Speaking in an interview with mrwood.com, Mr. Okyere Junior emphasized the critical importance of regular disinfection in busy marketplaces. He warned that failure to maintain sanitary conditions in such crowded commercial environments can lead to severe consequences, including:
Increased Risk of Disease Transmission: Exposure to bacterial and viral infections.
Pest Infestations: Attraction of rodents, cockroaches and flies.
Food Contamination: Increased chances of spoilage and unsafe food handling.
Public Health Hazards: Respiratory issues and other health complications.
Economic Impact: A decline in market reputation, leading to reduced patronage and business losses.
As the leader of both the local and national auto parts dealer associations, I see it as my responsibility to ensure that our markets are safe, clean and healthy for both traders and customers, Mr. Okyere Junior stated.
He further announced plans to extend the disinfection exercise to other major spare parts markets across Ghana. The next target according to him will be the Suame Magazine in Kumasi another prominent auto parts and mechanical hub in the country. A date for that exercise will be scheduled soon.
Mr. Okyere Junior also expressed his appreciation to LCB Worldwide Crisis Solutions for their invaluable support and called on the government to assist the organization in continuing its sanitation and public health efforts across the country.
This partnership is a great example of what we can achieve when private initiatives and public support work hand in hand, he added.
The disinfection of the Abosey Okai Market is being hailed as a proactive step toward safeguarding public health especially in densely populated commercial areas. Stakeholders are optimistic that similar efforts will soon be replicated nationwide.
