Asiedu Nketiah Leads NDC Delegation to Pay Tribute at Funeral of Prominent ARS Reverend

The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Hon. Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, on Saturday, May 24, 2025, led a high-powered delegation to the funeral of a revered clergyman of the Apostles Revelation Society (ARS) Church, offering heartfelt condolences and support on behalf of the party.

In a brief address to mourners Hon. Asiedu Nketiah outlined three key reasons for his presence at the solemn occasion.

Firstly, he noted the historic friendship between the founder of the ARS Church, the late C.K. Wovenu and NDC’s founder, the late former President Jerry John Rawlings. According to him this long-standing relationship laid the foundation for the strong ties between the ARS Church and the NDC today.

Secondly, he revealed that his attendance was on behalf of former President John Dramani Mahama, who had delegated him to represent him at the funeral. Mr. Mahama, he explained holds the church and its late leader in high regard and wanted to show solidarity during the period of mourning.

Lastly, Hon. Asiedu Nketiah shared that the Member of Parliament for Ketu South Hon. Edem Kwabla Agbana had personally called on him as a father figure to join him in paying final respects to the late Reverend. The Reverend, he added, had played a significant role in the life of Hon. Agbana, offering spiritual and moral support throughout his political journey.

As part of the NDC’s tribute, the delegation presented a donation of GHC 20,000.00 to the bereaved family. This contribution Hon. Asiedu Nketiah explained, was made on behalf of the entire party to support the funeral expenses. He acknowledged that other contributions and logistical support had earlier been made by Hon. Edem Agbana and Volta Regional Minister James Gunu during the funeral preparations.

The NDC Chairman was accompanied by several regional and constituency party executives, who came to show their solidarity and respect for the life and legacy of the late clergyman. Their presence reflected the deep bond between the ARS Church and the NDC, forged through decades of mutual respect and cooperation.

The funeral, which took place at the headquarters of the ARS Church, was attended by thousands of mourners, including clergy, traditional leaders, and political figures from across the Volta Region and beyond.

The passing of the ARS Reverend marks the end of an era for the church, but the outpouring of love and support from the NDC and other mourners highlights the enduring influence of his ministry and leadership.
