Asamoah Gyan and Abedi Pele Appointed as CAF Ambassadors for 2025 African Schools Football Championship
In a significant boost to African football development Ghanaian football legends Asamoah Gyan and Abedi Ayew Pele have been appointed as official ambassadors for the 2025 African Schools Football Championship by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
According to the Ghana Football Association (GFA), the two iconic footballers will play a key role in promoting the tournament, inspiring young players, and fostering the growth of youth football across the African continent.
As ambassadors, Abedi Pele and Asamoah Gyan are expected to mentor and motivate young footballers participating in the championship while also working to unearth new football talents across Africa.
Both football legends have been committed to developing young players and giving back to their communities.
• Abedi Pele, a three-time African Footballer of the Year and a former Black Stars captain, has played a crucial role in developing young talents through his club, Nania FC. Several players from Nania FC have gone on to represent Ghana at various levels.
• Asamoah Gyan, Ghana’s all-time top scorer with 51 goals in 109 appearances, has also been involved in numerous charitable initiatives. Through the Asamoah Gyan Foundation, he has supported underprivileged children and promoted education and sports development.
The 2025 African Schools Football Championship is scheduled to take place from April 21 to April 26, 2025, at the University of Ghana Stadium in Accra. The tournament aims to promote grassroots football development, encourage young talents, and create opportunities for the next generation of African footballers.
