Afua Asantewaa Admits Long-Distance Relationships Are Not as Easy as She Once Believed
Ghanaian media personality and sing-a-thon contender Afua Asantewaa has backtracked on her earlier views in support of long-distance relationships. In a candid video shared on her Instagram page on June 10, 2025, Afua opened up about the reality she has faced since relocating to the United States.
According to her she once believed long-distance relationships were simple to maintain. However her personal experience has changed that perception entirely.
I used to think long-distance relationships are very easy. Those were the exact words I used to say some time back. I thought it wasn’t a big deal—you could be talking with your partner until I experienced it, she confessed.
Afua went on to express just how challenging it has been to stay emotionally connected while being physically apart from a partner. She questioned how others manage such situations, jokingly asking if there is a special formula or divine strength that makes it easier for some people.
Let me ask: is it some sort of measure you guys follow or is it some divine strength that you guys have that enables you to stay apart for a long time? It is difficult,” she added.
Her heartfelt admission has sparked a wave of reactions online. Many netizens praised her honesty and agreed with her revised opinion, saying that the emotional and physical distance can indeed make relationships more complicated. Others, however, insisted that long-distance relationships can still work, provided both parties are committed, loyal, and communicate effectively.
Afua Asantewaa’s post adds to the ongoing debate about love and relationships in a digital age where migration and career demands often separate couples. Her openness offers comfort to many who are navigating similar experiences, while also serving as a reminder that every relationship is different and requires effort, no matter the distance.
