Former NDC Executive Nana Otu Sarkwa Defends Asiedu Nketia Against Ras Mubarak’s Criticism

Former General Secretary for the National Coordinating Committee for Grassroots Employment of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Nana Otu Sarkwa has come out strongly in defense of the party’s National Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketia following criticisms by former Member of Parliament for Kumbungu, Ras Mubarak.

In an interview with mrwoode.com, Nana Otu Sarkwa condemned Ras Mubarak’s recent remarks against Mr. Asiedu Nketia who is currently embarking on a nationwide Thank You tour. According to Sarkwa, Ras Mubarak has no moral or political authority to question the National Chairman’s decision to express gratitude to Ghanaians for their support in the 2024 general elections.

Why is Ras Mubarak only now finding fault with the Chairman’s tour? Where was he when Asiedu Nketia was campaigning across the country for the NDC? Nana Otu Sarkwa asked.

He further praised Asiedu Nketia for his tireless efforts in ensuring the NDC’s victory in both the 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections. Sarkwa noted that the current stability in the economy and the cedi-to-dollar exchange rate are in part due to the groundwork laid by Asiedu Nketia and his strategic campaign efforts.

If the NDC is now in power and the economy is stable we must acknowledge and thank Mr. Asiedu Nketia for his immense contribution during the election period, he added.

Otu Sarkwa warned Ras Mubarak to desist from any attempts to undermine the National Chairman emphasizing that internal criticisms should be constructive and not aimed at sowing division within the party.

If Ras Mubarak has any intention to sabotage or discredit the National Chairman, he should put an end to it immediately, Sarkwa concluded.

Asiedu Nketia’s Thank You tour is aimed at expressing appreciation to grassroots supporters and stakeholders across all constituencies in Ghana reinforcing the NDC’s commitment to unity and transparency as they begin their governance journey.
