Ghana Mourns Apostle Dr. Kwadwo Safo, Renowned Innovator and Spiritual Leader

Ghanaian lawyer and politician, Hon. Sarah Adwoa Safo has officially confirmed the passing of her father, Apostle Dr. Kwadwo Safo in a statement released online.
Apostle Dr. Safo a revered man of God visionary inventor, philanthropist, agriculturalist and industrialist, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 11, 2025. He was widely known and celebrated as Kantanka the African Star a name that symbolized his groundbreaking work in technology and his dedication to African innovation.
He was the spiritual leader of the Kristo Asafo Mission of Ghana and the head of the Safo family. His pioneering contributions to science, technology and industry made him one of the most influential figures in Ghana’s modern development landscape. Through the Kantanka Group, he championed local manufacturing, especially in the automotive sector, and inspired a generation to believe in African ingenuity.
In the family’s official statement, signed by Hon. Sarah Adwoa Safo, former Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya, Apostle Safo was described as a gallant son of the land, whose legacy was shaped by a life of struggle, faith, vision, and unwavering dedication to excellence.
“Our father lived a purposeful life, driven by his desire to uplift Ghana and Africa through innovation, spirituality, and compassion. His memory will forever live on in the lives he touched and the institutions he built, the statement read.
The family has appealed to the public to respect their privacy during this time of mourning. Details concerning the funeral and burial arrangements will be communicated in due course.
Apostle Dr. Kwadwo Safo leaves behind a rich legacy and a lasting imprint on Ghana’s religious, technological and industrial history.
