Sarkodie Reveals He Wrote “Goodbye” in His Mother’s Kitchen in Tema

Ghanaian rap icon Michael Owusu Addo popularly known as Sarkodie has warmed the hearts of fans by sharing an intimate story behind one of his most cherished songs. The award-winning rapper revealed that the emotional track Goodbye was written in a very unexpected place  his mother’s kitchen in Tema.

The revelation came through a post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) on Monday, June 23, 2025. Sarkodie responded to a fan who had shared a video featuring the track, by writing:
Wrote this particular song in my mum’s kitchen (Tema).

This simple comment sparked a wave of nostalgia and appreciation from fans who remember the song as one of the standout tracks from his classic 2012 album, Rapperholic.

Goodbye, which features the soulful vocals of Mugeez and production by Kill Beatz, remains a fan favourite more than a decade after its release.
