Chelsea Could Use Armando Broja in Swap Deal to Land Ajax Star Jorrel Hato

Chelsea Football Club may have found the perfect bargaining chip to land one of their top defensive targets Jorrel Hato this summer. The highly rated Ajax defender has been attracting strong interest from several Premier League clubs, including Liverpool and Arsenal but it appears that the Blues are ready to step up their pursuit.

According to reports Ajax are demanding around £40 million for the versatile Netherlands international who has impressed with his maturity and ability to play across the backline. Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca, who is focused on building a young and dynamic squad, has placed Hato on his radar as he looks to reinforce his defence.

However Chelsea could now have a way to reduce Ajax’s asking price by offering a player in return.

Forgotten Chelsea striker Armando Broja who has struggled with injuries and loan spells at Fulham and Everton is looking to revive his career with a permanent move away from Stamford Bridge. The 23-year-old Albanian international is reportedly attracting interest from several clubs, including AC Milan, RB Leipzig, and PSV Eindhoven.

Notably, Ajax have also shown interest in Broja and have reportedly contacted Chelsea to inquire about the conditions for a potential deal. This opens the door for a swap deal, which could see Broja move to the Dutch club while Hato joins Chelsea.

With Chelsea valuing Broja at £20 million, a swap deal could significantly lower the fee required to sign Hato possibly cutting it in half. Such a move would be in line with Chelsea’s current transfer strategy, which focuses on offloading fringe players while adding young, high-potential talents to the squad.

At just 18 years old Jorrel Hato is already being recognised as one of the most promising defensive talents in European football. His ability to play as a centre-back, left-back or even as part of a back three makes him a valuable asset for any top team.

For Chelsea who aim to compete on multiple fronts next season, adding a player of Hato’s versatility and composure would offer important depth and long-term value. With Maresca likely to rotate his squad across domestic and European competitions, such a player could prove essential.

Despite being once considered a top prospect at Stamford Bridge Armando Broja appears to have fallen out of favour. The recent arrival of Liam Delap, along with the club’s ongoing search for a new No. 9, suggests that Broja is no longer part of Chelsea’s future plans.

A fresh start at a club like Ajax known for developing young talent could help Broja rediscover his form and confidence. For Chelsea, it could be the ideal opportunity to kill two birds with one stone: clear out a surplus player and land a highly sought-after defender.
