Surv. Timothy Anyidoho Esq, Acting Greater Accra Lands Officer, emphasized the importance of proper procedures when registering your land in Ghana during an interview on Mr. Woode Studios by Mr Woode . He explained that Article 258 establishes the Lands Commission, which has four divisions. Before buying land, it is crucial to ensure it has a site plan and to conduct a search with that site plan at the Lands Commission to verify ownership.

After purchasing, recording the land with the Lands Commission, though is optional but the law encourages compulsory registration along with paying stamp duty which is for Ghana Revenue Authority but administered by Land Commission . Surv. Anyidoho also explained concept of land title and the back-coded plan. He advised involving professionals from the start and stressed the importance of reading the indenture, a key contract document.
