Brim Central MCE Hon. Solomon Kusi Barkon Leads by Example in Fight Against Poor Sanitation
Poor sanitation has long been identified as a leading cause of various health problems, including cholera, dysentery, typhoid fever, intestinal worm infections and even polio. In response to these concerns the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Brim Central Municipality Hon. Solomon Kusi Barkon, has taken decisive steps to tackle sanitation issues in the area.
Under his leadership the municipality has launched a weekly cleanup campaign held every Sunday. These exercises are not only aimed at cleaning the environment but also at raising awareness about the importance of personal and environmental hygiene.
What has caught the attention and admiration of many residents is the MCE’s personal commitment to the cause. Hon. Solomon Kusi Barkon does not simply issue directives he actively participates in the cleanup exercises working alongside residents to sweep streets, desilt gutters and remove waste.
In addition to the physical cleanup activities the MCE has also made education a key component of the sanitation campaign. Community outreach programs have been initiated to teach residents about the dangers of poor sanitation and the benefits of maintaining clean surroundings. Topics covered include proper waste disposal, regular hand washing and how to prevent the spread of diseases linked to dirty environments.
Residents have responded positively to the initiative with many expressing their appreciation for the MCE’s hands-on leadership and dedication to improving public health in the municipality.
The Brim Central Municipal Assembly’s approach serves as a shining example of how local government leaders can make a meaningful impact by not only implementing policies but also leading by example. As the campaign continues it is hoped that other districts and municipalities will follow this model to improve sanitation and public health across the country.
