McCarthy Hill Youth Association Hosts Free Health Screening At Mallam
The McCarthy Hill Youth Association has once again demonstrated its commitment to community development by organizing a free health screening and wellness education program in the Weija Gbawe Municipality. The event took place on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at the Church of Christ premises at Mallam Bola Road.
Residents in and around the area benefited from free medical check-ups and personalized health advice. In addition to the screenings, attendees received important education on healthy living and disease prevention, delivered by Nicholas Adjei, a professional Physician Assistant. His session focused on practical tips to help people avoid common illnesses through better lifestyle choices.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Mr. Woode of mrwoode.com, the Communications Director of the McCarthy Hill Youth Association, Eric Tweneboah Baah, shared the inspiration behind the initiative.
We observed that many of the youth are becoming involved in negative activities like violence, drug use, and excessive betting. We formed this association to guide and empower them toward more positive lifestyles, he explained.
Eric also revealed that the health screening is part of a series of community-focused programs initiated by the association. Just days before the health event, the group carried out a donation and clean-up exercise, further highlighting their drive to make a meaningful difference in their environment.
Our activities are not limited to McCarthy Hill. We plan to extend our outreach to other areas in the municipality and beyond,” Eric added.
He extended appreciation to Hon. Jerry Ahmed Shaib, the Member of Parliament for Weija Gbawe Constituency, for his encouragement and support. Gratitude was also expressed to individuals and partners who contributed to the success of the program.
This initiative by the McCarthy Hill Youth Association reflects a growing trend of youth-led civic engagement in Ghana, aimed at promoting health, unity, and positive social change within local communities.
