Woman Accuses Ex-Husband of Neglect and Alleged Role in Daughter’s Mental Illness

 

A distressed woman has made an emotional appeal on Lawson Afisem, a program hosted by MFK, calling on her ex-husband to take responsibility for their children and to clear his name over allegations linked to their daughter’s deteriorating mental health.

Speaking during the interview, the woman revealed that her daughter is currently battling a severe mental illness, which, according to her, keeps worsening day by day. The mother, visibly broken, described how the child’s condition has escalated instead of showing signs of improvement.

She further explained that her ex-husband, with whom she shares two children, abandoned the family for reasons unknown to her. Despite several efforts to reach out — including multiple trips to Kumasi where he currently resides — the man has reportedly refused to see his children or offer any form of support for their upkeep or well-being.

In a desperate attempt to seek help for her daughter, the woman said she visited more than two spiritualists, both of whom allegedly pointed fingers at the ex-husband as being the cause of the child’s affliction. While she did not state whether she believes the spiritualists’ claims entirely, she is now publicly urging the father of her children to clear his name” if he is truly innocent.

All I want is for him to come and see his children, especially now that one is seriously ill. If he has no hand in what’s happening, he should come and prove it, she stated.

The emotional interview has sparked conversations online about parental neglect, the mental health crisis, and the reliance on spiritual explanations in the face of limited access to professional psychiatric care.

The woman is pleading for support from the public to help her find proper medical care for her daughter, while also hoping her ex-husband will return and play an active role in their children’s lives.
