Sam Pyne Cautions Ghanaians Against Fake Excerpts from NPP 2024 Election Review Report
The former Mayor of Kumasi and a leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Sam Pyne has strongly cautioned the public to disregard what he describes as false excerpts circulating on social media allegedly from the Mike Ocquaye Committee’s report on the party’s performance in the 2024 general elections.
In an interview on Accra-based Asempa FM, Sam Pyne stated emphatically that the contents of the report have not been made public and are currently in the custody of only the General Secretary of the NPP.
The report has not been officially released. Only the General Secretary has it. So, it’s clear that these so-called excerpts being shared are fabricated,” he stated.
Sam Pyne further alleged that some of those spreading the false information are individuals who engage in drug use and turn to social media to peddle misinformation. “We know some of these people. After smoking marijuana, they come online and engage in all kinds of activities. Ghanaians should not take them seriously, he said.
He urged members of the NPP and the general public to remain calm and wait for the official release of the committee’s report rather than falling for unverified content being pushed for political mischief.
The Mike Ocquaye Committee was tasked with reviewing the NPP’s defeat in the 2024 general elections. Since its formation, expectations have been high regarding the findings and recommendations it would present. However, the party is yet to officially release any portion of the report to the public.
Sam Pyne’s comments come amid increasing social media chatter and political commentary, supposedly quoting portions of the committee’s findings. The former Kumasi Mayor has described this as a deliberate attempt by some individuals to sow confusion within the party and mislead the public.
He concluded by encouraging party faithful to focus on unity and support the leadership in preparing the NPP for future success.
