Former Member of Parliament for the Dome-Kwabenya Constituency Hon. Sarah Adwoa Safo has shared some deeply personal and spiritual challenges she encountered during her early political journey. Speaking in a recent viral video circulating on social media, the former MP opened up about mysterious spiritual attacks allegedly orchestrated against her during her first attempt to enter Parliament.
According to Adwoa Safo some individuals took her photograph and sand from her footprints to be used in rituals aimed at causing her spiritual harm and derailing her political ambitions. She revealed that these actions were intended to destabilize her spiritually and possibly cost her the parliamentary seat.
However, she credited her survival and success to the spiritual protection of her father, Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, founder of the Kristo Asafo Mission and Kantanka Group. Adwoa Safo emotionally recounted how, according to spiritual revelations, her father’s presence would manifest whenever her name was mentioned during these rituals.
During my first parliamentary election contest in the Dome-Kwabenya constituency, some individuals took my picture and collected sand from my footprints to use in a sacred ritual. However whenever they attempted to call out my spirit to cause harm, my father would appear to protect me, she revealed.
She further added that spiritual practitioners attempting to perform the rituals reportedly told their clients that a powerful male figure would emerge any time they tried to invoke her image or name. It got to a point when the ritualist saw my picture they said it was a man. When they mentioned my name, he said they should never mention that name again. As for my father, I don’t know how to thank him, she stated.
Since the 2024 general elections, Adwoa Safo has been engaging with the media sharing her experiences during her time in office and her perspective on internal party matters. These public disclosures have sparked some friction within the New Patriotic Party (NPP), with varying reactions from party supporters and leadership.
Adwoa Safo’s testimony adds to the ongoing discussions around the role of spirituality in Ghanaian politics and the unseen challenges politicians often face behind the scenes.
As she continues to reflect on her journey many have praised her courage in sharing these experiences, while others are calling for more unity within the political space, especially among members of the NPP.
